PatchTrader

Making Patch Trading Easier

PatchTrader for iOS in the iTunes App Store PatchTrader for Android in the Google Play Store

How?

PatchTrader makes patch trading easier by bringing people together at an event who want to trade patches. Taking advantage of your device's native mapping and GPS, PatchTrader lets you "check in" when you want to trade patches, showing your exact location on the map to other patch traders and letting you see the location of any other patch traders who have "checked in".

You no longer need to set up a table and spread out your patches, then sit and wait, hoping that other patch traders will wander by. Instead, you can now set up your patches and check in, immediately letting other patch traders know exactly where to find you. If you would rather walk around and explore an event, you can still check in while you walk around so others can find you for trading.

Useful by Scouts, Scouters, or anyone else who enjoys trading patches!

How to Use PatchTrader

When you're ready to trade, or when you are somewhere where you'd trade if you found another patch trader, check in to show other patch traders where you are. If you are walking around but still interested in trading, you can still check in to show others that you were interested.

Every time you refresh the map, it shows a pin for anyone who has checked in around to you (within a distance you set). If more pins are available than you've told it to load, the map shows the most recent pins that are closest to you.

Where Do I Get It?

PatchTrader for iOS is available in the Apple iOS App Store; PatchTrader for Android is available in the Google Play Store.

Security

Every patch trader needs to create their own account -- this allows us to guard all of your user and "check in" data, as well as more things to come.

Your username is shown on your map pins, so especially for "youth" patch traders, your username should not easily personally identify you. (For example, "BobJohnsonsMinions" is a good username, but "BobJohnson" is not.)

Like your username, the description you enter for your pin when you check in is shown to all users of the app. You should say enough that other traders can find you, but that's about it.

Providing your email address when you sign up is recommended, but not required. Your email address is only used to help you reset your password in case you forget it. It will never be shown to anyone else or used for any other purpose.
